Hamas condemns Israeli airstrike that killed nine children of Gaza doctor 'Alaa Al-Najjar'

An Israeli airstrike killed nine of Palestinian doctor Alaa Al-Najjar’s children while she was treating victims at a hospital. Hamas condemned the attack as a massacre. The ongoing war has resulted in over 53,900 Palestinian deaths, with severe restrictions on humanitarian aid.

AhlulBayt News Agency: The Palestinian resistance movement Hamas has condemned Israel’s airstrike on the home of Palestinian doctor Alaa Al-Najjar, calling it “a horrific massacre.”

The attack, which took place in Khan Yunis, killed nine of Al-Najjar’s ten children while she was on duty at Nasser Hospital. Hamas stated that this act reflects the “sadistic nature of the occupation” and accused Israeli forces of deliberately targeting civilians and medical personnel.

Alaa, a pediatrician, was treating victims of Israeli attacks when she learned that her home had been bombed. Her children, aged 2 to 16, were killed, with eight of their bodies mutilated beyond recognition.

Shortly before the strike, Alaa had left for work with her husband, Hamdi Al-Najjar, who later returned home. The airstrike reduced their residence to rubble and ignited fires in the surrounding area.

Alaa’s husband and one surviving child sustained injuries in the attack. According to Muneer Alboursh, director general of Gaza’s health ministry, Israel has killed 12 health workers in the past week, many in targeted attacks on their homes.

Israel launched its military campaign in Gaza on October 7, 2023. Since then, at least 53,900 Palestinians have been killed, according to Gaza’s health ministry. The blockade imposed by Israeli forces has shut all border crossings, severely restricting the entry of humanitarian aid, fuel, and food.
